Hi! We are the family behind Ophelia’s Villa and we are excited to welcome you to Belize. Our love for Belize started in 2008 when we (minus kiddos) stumbled upon a small country in Central America. We instantly fell in love with Belize during our weeklong stay on the Caribbean Caye (island) of Caye Caulker. The people, culture, hospitality, food, and beauty hooked us... we knew we found a special place.
In 2016 we finally decided to stop dreaming. We got serious and set a goal to have our own slice of paradise in a country we fell hard for. Our goal was to have a space we could connect to all the things we love about Belize as well as a place to make memories for years to come. We spent a lot of time researching and visiting different areas of Belize to determine the best spot.
In 2018 we visited the Placencia Peninsula. The moment we arrived we instantly knew this was the place for us. We originally set out to buy a vacation home but after a lot of searching, we made the decision to buy a lot and build.
We built our custom-designed villa on a beautiful waterfront lot located on the Placencia Lagoon in Maya Beach, a short distance from the vibrant Placencia Village. While we love the beach, it is appx. 300 yards away, we knew the lagoon has something special to offer.
We are delighted to have a home for our family and friends to spend time at, connect, and make memories. Our daughters are quickly developing their own adventurous spirit and enjoying all Belize has to offer.
We wish you a memorable visit to Belize filled with adventure, relaxation, and connection.
She is responsible for all housekeeping management at Ophelia’s Villa. lda loves to cook, especially birthday cakes, and is a trusted childcare provider. Please let her know what you need as she strives to ensure the villa exceeds your expectations. Ida has lived in Placencia for over 16 years and has held a variety of hospitality jobs on the peninsula. She loves to cook, bake, and spend time with her family on boat rides. She says Placencia offers the best beaches in Belize. Ida enjoys finding the best produce, and prices, from vendors. Her advice is to find a local tour operator and try something new in Belize.
He is the landscaping extraordinaire at Ophelia’s Villa. He literally plants dead branches in the ground and they grow. We are also happy to have him as our property manager. He ensures everything is working and ready for your visit. Don’t hesitate to let him know what you need during your stay at the villa.
Luti is from Maya Center and he loves sports and birding! Ask him how many birds he can recognize. He has spent his entire life on farms and has a deep knowledge of fruits and plants. He also enjoys cooking and spent 5 years as a chef. He enjoys making Callaloo, a local dish, and stewed chicken. He highly recommends Doyle Gardiner as the best guide if you want to explore the Cockscomb Basin area.
